To the UN-initiated...

The UN are finally pulling out their 'observers' after 4 died last week.

That wont stop Hitzballah using their positions as convenient cover*. What a joke!

What Id like to know is what the UN observers continued 'usefully observing' in the middle of a Hizballah stronghold/war zone- with their fingers crossed presumably? Having noted that bombs had been falling dangerously close to their post all week, when one eventually lands on them they act all surprised. Either they are thick or they knew that Hezballah were using them as convenient cover. What possible use were they serving anyway. Useless idiots. And re Kofi Annan, a 'prominent' figure as far as the media is concerned, how is he allowed to get away virtually unchallenged with such biased and disgusting comments implying the bombing was 'deliberate'?

Presumably its to divert attention away from the obvious:-

(Like the BBC)

The Times :
* Even before today's air strike, aid agencies had given warning that getting safe passage for the vital supplies beyond Tyre was proving highly dangerous due to Israeli bombardment and Hezbollah rocket launchers exploiting convoys as cover

Hezbollah fighters further endangered the mercy missions by using the arrival of UN convoys as cover to bring out launchers and fire rockets at Israel from near the vehicles, he claimed, attracting incoming fire

'Vocalizing' their Views

Boston:

A Jewish activist was physically assaulted and his life was threatened during a planned "peaceful" rally held by the Muslim American Society in Boston. One man then told Brodsky he would be hunted down and killed.

"The event was a big step among Muslims", said Caline Jarudi, of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee in Massachusetts, because "Muslims frequently are concerned about vocalizing their views"

Chicago:

Professor Klocek was suspended from the university following a campaign launched by pro-Palestinian student groups and the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). One report describes the unfair, almost Stalinist treatment, of a Chicago educator whose only transgression is he supports Israel's right to defend itself from terrorists.

Klocek said that he was suspended by DePaul administration, and ultimately lost his position and teaching benefits, after engaging in an out-of-class argument with pro-Palestinian students at a student activities fair on campus.

Klocek believes in Israel's right to exist as a sovereign Jewish state within safe and secure borders. CAIR and Muslim student groups told University officials that Klocek offended Muslim students when discussing Christian interests in Israel, disputing that Israeli treatment of Palestinians was akin to the Nazi treatment of the Jews, and then terminating the discussion when it appeared that the students were more interested in Israel-bashing than discussing the issues.

Seattle :

One person is dead and five others have been injured in a shooting at the Jewish Federation at 2031 Third Ave. in downtown Seattle.

"This is a terrible tragedy for all of the victims and their families. Our prayers are with them today. We don't know the exact reason, but it appears that it was purposeful….," said Seattle's mayor Greg Nickels in a statement

According to the Seattle Times, a man got through security at the Jewish Federation and told staff members, "I'm a Muslim American; I'm angry at Israel," then began shooting, according to Amy Wasser-Simpson, the vice president.

"Appears?" - How much clearer could he have made it? Once again: The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee in Massachusetts: Muslims frequently are concerned about vocalizing their views.

Right. And when they do its accompanied with violence, random murder, threats or simpler but effective cohersive tactics that shut down debate.

Israels war is our war

Opinion Update:

"Not that we should be surprised. The BBC’s coverage has been overwhelmingly one-sided, with presenters and reporters editorialising against what they universally refer to as “Israeli attacks on Lebanon".....On Saturday the BBC’s website helpfully carried full details of the assembly points for that day’s anti-Israel march. Nowhere did it give the same detail for yesterday’s rally in support of Israel. We are forced to pay for such propaganda. The only option is to take action ourselves. BBC News’s annual budget is £350 million — 8.75 per cent of the corporation’s entire budget. From now on, let’s pay only £120 of the £131.50 licence fee"

Quite. c/o The Times And another reason for this post to stay up all bloody week.

+

Hizbollahs "sophisticated and slick" media operations c/o CNN

7,000 attend a pro Israel rally yesterday North London....

"... how many demos or rallies can you think of that include the singing of "God Save the Queen" (with the words helpfully projected up on the plasma megascreen)?

So, yes, it was very much the face of the official Jewish community, passionately eager to demonstrate that loyalty to Britain comes before the singing of the Israeli national anthem, Hatikva, which followed it"

Terrific that the turnout equalled if not surpassed Saturdays anti Israeli rally - here's George Galloway at the anti Israeli rally central London on Saturday (click for pics), where the usual suspects rocked up with charming signs recalling the Warsaw ghettos, pro-Hizballah, demonising Israel..:

What I’m about to say is illegal in this country ...Hezbollah has never been a terrorist organisation. I am here to glorify the Lebanese resistance, Hezbollah, and to glorify the resistance leader, Hassan Nasrallah ..I'll see you in court, Mr Blair.

Hope so you sad little Scottish traitor.

Cox and Forkum comment on the anti Israeli demos in the US where they waved placards that called on Allah to destroy the terrorist state of Israel ( in the US?! 'A sign of the times indeed')

More opinion keeping me sane:

The bloody truth is that Israel's war is our war (Sunday Times commentary)

"None of that means their (Bush and Blairs) policy is wrong. To explain why they might be right is an uphill struggle because many more innocents are dying in Lebanon than in Israel, making it easy to accuse the Jewish state of disproportionate violence. The proper question has to go beyond “how many civilians are dying today?” to “can Israel’s actions contribute to eventual peace?”

Critics of Israel point out that bombing Lebanon provides fresh grievances for Palestinians and other Muslims. That is undoubtedly so, and it is exactly what Hamas, Hezbollah, Syria and Iran would wish. Israel is forced to choose between looking feeble (which will increase its vulnerability) or playing into its enemies’ hands through “disproportionate” action. Before we criticise Israel we should at least understand that dilemma and be aware that if we stoke up anti-Israeli feeling we dance to a devilish tune"

Do you think Britain would piss about if the IRA had fired 3,000 rockets into the British mainland in the past few months?

From the Telegraph & via New English Review:-

"My first impression on reaching the (IslamExpo) exhibition centre was of a strong police presence. I was then struck by how quiet and subdued it all seemed......my impression was that the exhibition was not particularly well attended. I may be wrong in this, of course – I am going on what I saw from the outside and through the window. Visitors were almost exclusively Muslim, so it failed as a bridge-building exercise. The atmosphere was quiet and subdued....

Overall, a damp squib, or damp squid...."

Good (and well done for going along MJ)

and this is great news....will savour it even better knowing this (thanks to Drinking from Home)

"When I left England I bought a one-way ticket out. I never want to see the place again.”

Bakri said last night: “What concerns me is my safety. I’d be happy with a month’s visa but this morning they told me I couldn’t because I’m not a British citizen any more.”

Omar Bakri to British Muslim audiences:

"Kill and be killed... Prepare as much as you can from strength and from force to terrorise - because terrorism it is part of Islam... Martyrdom is what you want. Do the effort. Clear your intention. Go forward, never look backwards. Make sure you have nothing left behind you to think about or cry for and fight in the name of Allah."

Caught trying to board a ship full of women and children evacuees.

All makes a nice change from this day last year when 4 sad demented little jihadis were racing around the capital trying to blow up the transport system. That unprecedented context is often forgotten when people rush to accuse CO19 officers of everything from state sanctioned terrorism to murder in relation to the de menezes case. Within 3 days the much maligned security services had rounded up all of them.

I'm relieved the CPS found nothing to support a prosecution. I always held these men responsible.

The family meanwhile quickly aligned themselves with terror supporting Galloways Respect party to undertake their campaign.

No. Not really.

I am enjoying the heatwave. We get one very hot spell every summer, the rest is usually at least very warm and there is the occasional week long monsoon to keep England green.

Presumably that left wing comic the Indy would have me think this heat is abnomal.

It seems to have made global warming is cause du jour never missing an opportunity for scaremongering. But this headline and front cover is pretty hilarious dont you think?! Bernard Ingham commenting on a press review last night pointed out to one hapless guest (who bought right into the headline without smirking) that the Romans used to make excellent wine. Just outside York.

Im not dismissing the whole argument on global warming, landfill ... human destruction of the planet ( I recycle! I recycle!) but there needs to be some proportion and latterly the whole debate seems to have been hijacked by utter loons.

Spare a thought for those who have to take the Tube. It's currently up to about 50 degrees C.

OK I regret linking here.

Us Brit bloggers are all dreadful 'lushes', with a terrible colonial past, we came to the fore thanks only really to 'The Beatles' and 'our forests' (long story!) and we're ALL fervently anti-semitic to boot (sadly THAT post has vanished!)
. Yes, 'Rastaman' enjoys indulging in cultural slurs to make his 'argument', stereotypes into his keyboard like fury and has a sulking sense of humour failure on a near regular basis. Bit like the BBCs approach to Americans.

Here he is on Churchill "look at you bitching out some guy you don’t know, all because he’s burnt out on his drunk father"... in response to a quite reasonable attempt to remind him that..it's ok to enjoy the odd alcoholic beverage.

A burnt out lush called Winston Churchill in 1899:-

"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property - either as a child, a wife, or a concubine - must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.
"Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen: all know how to die. But the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytising faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science - the science against which it had vainly struggled - the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome."

A final 'word'

No-Looking-at-Pretty-Girls

Also spotted this inTthe Sun today, someone at IBA scanned it in. I honestly thought it said 'dhimmies' not 'dummies'. Done on purpose Jon? Good to see the MSM ARE still on the ball.

Other islamic fun:

"The Muslim Youth Camp (of America) brings Muslim families and individuals of diverse backgrounds together for a fun-filled week of Islamic living".

LGF on the sinister sounding 'youth camps' :-

"The problem centers around Bill Aossey, who was previously mentioned as a MYCA Representative. Bill is the President of the Midamar Corporation, located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Midamar is an international distributor of Halal meats, or meats that have been prepared according to Islamic law. On its website, www.midamar.com, it is stated that Midamar is a “Trusted Halal food supplier and sponsor for the annual conferences and conventions hosted by ISNA, CAIR, AMC, ICNA, and MAS, and W.D. Muhammad.”

Every one of these organizations have had dealings with Islamic extremist and/or hate groups.

“We should ask ourselves why the English buy our houses in the Dordogne, in the Périgord ... and in many other regions. The answer is simply because the British GDP is 10 per cent greater than the French and that the standard of life of the British is higher than that of the French”

Nicolas Sarkozy, the French Interior Minister, in praise of the British and with 'a stark message for his countrymen'

“We have committed the immense error of undermining work. When someone who works does not have a better life than someone who does not work, why should he get up in the morning?”

"The French need to work harder and display less arrogance, if they are to recapture former glories, Sarkozy tells his countrymen in a highly personal 281-page book published yesterday. Just as they embark on their long summer break, he has a blunt message for them: the holiday is over.

The Times article goes on to comment 'if Americans opt for presidents who enshrine success and opportunity, French voters prefer heads of state with experience of pain and failure. M Sarkozy, who is 51 — relatively young for a French presidential candidate — says that he now has just that' .

Presumably they mean the 'success and opportunity'.

Sarkozy all the way! I hope.

Pakistani women prisoners wait for their release order at a jail in Karachi.

"President General Pervez Musharraf signed an amendment to the 'Hadood Ordinance' on Friday. The amendment grants bail rights to women charged with 'adultery' and other minor crimes under Islamic laws.

Basically this grand concession means women convicted of 'adultery' or 'sex outside marriage' can be released on bail rather than having to serve prison sentences.

In other words rape victims get to live life on bail instead of in prison.

The ordinances have also been used as a weapon against women who defy marriage choices made by their families.

Musharraf promised five years ago to amend the Hadood Ordinances, only to backtrack in the face of stiff opposition from hard-line Islamic groups. Efforts by the governments of Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif to modify or repeal the laws faced the same problem and "foundered on the assertion that they are drawn from the Koran and the Sunnah" (the sayings of Mohammad). Hudood means "limitations or boundaries" in Urdu.

So ok he did good, Musharraf, under the circumstances. Still I'd agree with a human rights activist in Pakistan, IA Rahman, who praised the move, but demanded that the ordinance be repealed.

There are about 6,500 women in prison over Hudood Ordinance charges in Pakistan.

Its a form of adopted British common law that prevents Sharia law instigating the usual punishments such as stoning and lashing. The Islamic and ordinary legal systems often overturn each others' decisions in unresolved jurisdictional battles.

The Ordinance however still ensures that rape prosecutions are made almost impossible because as we all know 4 male witnesses are required by Sharia law.

(Unless you are allegedly raped by an American soldier in Iraq, then all Sharia bets are off and conveniently religious taboos prevent science assisting a fair trial)

A tiny success for womens 'rights' somewhere they're really needed.

Opinion keeping me sane

And the 'G8 blame the terrorists for de stabilising the region' is the current headline. Thought id stick that in there now for posterity in case they change their mind. 'They' being the media or our esteemed leaders.

**Bit of a rough old cut and paste summary of world opinion. Pro Israel.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Sunday that Group of Eight leaders were demanding
Hizbollah release captured Israelis and halt attacks on Israel as the way to end an upsurge in Middle East violence.

"We demand first that the Israeli soldiers be returned to Israel healthy, that the attacks on Israel cease, and then naturally for Israel to halt military action," she told reporters.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ben Bot has reportedly told Israel that the Dutch government understands Israel's situation and reaction. He also said that it would be more difficult
for The Netherlands to support Olmert if there are too many Lebanese civilian casualties.
He - therefore - urged Israel too do her best to prevent such civilians casualties.

Harper PM of Canada sides firmly with Israel

"Responsibility for the escalating violence in the Middle East rests entirely with those who have kidnapped Israeli soldiers", Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Thursday.

U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair joined President George W. Bush in blaming Iran and Syria for the escalation in violence in the Middle East, raising pressure on the two nations as missiles fired from Lebanon killed eight people in Israel.

``There are those in the region, notably Iran and Syria, who do not want this process of democratization and negotiation to succeed,'' Blair said today after a meeting with Bush in St. Petersburg, Russia, during the Group of Eight summit.

``There has been a real hesitation to put the real truth of this situation''

Then we get to France, so far only France:

Jacques Chirac questioned whether Israel was seeking Lebanon's destruction. "One may well ask if there isn't today a kind of wish to destroy Lebanon -- its infrastructure, its roads, its communications, its energy, its airport. And for what?

"I find honestly -- as all Europeans do -- that the current reactions are totally disproportionate," he said in a live television interview on France's national Bastille Day.

You do NOT speak for all Europeans Chirac! Listen to the lady (Merkel)..and moi, ok not so ladylike:

Fuck off, you arrogant spent crook. Speak for all? You certainly do not.

(Im trying to find what Sarkozy, long time supporter of Israel, said on French news tonight, sounded good but I only caught the end. There is hope for France)

*****************
Dr Shaban of the Syrian government was on Sky this evening talking absolute BULLSHIT. Her opinion was that Israel wanted to retake Lebanon and occupy it. Leftspeak.

Fortunately the former ISRAELI PM was there to take her on. Notably dumbfounded:-

(sorry about caps!)

WHAT IN HEAVENS NAME IS SHE TALKING ABOUT?!
IT WAS A WOMAN RIGHT? (OUCH!)

WHAT OCCUPATION?!
UNDER UN resolution 1559: ISRAEL LEAVES LEBANON
LEBANON ARE TO POLICE HIZBOLLAH
WE KEPT OUR PART
THEY DID NOT.

HIZBOLLAH THEN ROUNDS WITH HAMAS AND KIDNAPS
AN ISRAELI SOLDIER
FIRES RICKETS INTO OUR CITIES

HONESTLY - WHAT OCCUPATION IS SHE ON ABOUT?

HIZBOLLAH IS A PROXY OF IRAN AS IS HAMAS
WE LEFT ON CREDIT
IN FUTURE ANY UNILTAERAL WITHDRAWALS NEED TO BE ACCOMPANIED
BY DISMANTLING OF TERRORIST CAPABILITIES O/W THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT WE ALL WANT HAPPENS
NOW IT IS DOWN TO US - WE HAVE TO DISARM THEM. THIS WAS NOT WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN.
THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY HAS TO SUPPORT US

MODERATE ARABS ARE HOPING WE DO IT B/C THEY KNOW
THEY WOULD BE A TARGET FOR ATTACK OR AT LEAST THEY PERCEIVE A REAL DANGER IN THIS REGION

NO TALK OF A CEASEFIRE.
HIZBOLLAH WANT A CEASEFIRE
TO REGROUP AND RE ARM TO LULL OURSELVES INTO A SLEEP
AS DEMOCRACIES HAVE DONE IN THE PAST

THIS THREAT HAS TO BE REMOVED
TODAY IT IS DIRECTED AT US
TOMORROW IT WILL BE DIRECTED AT ALL OF THE FREE WORLD
360 RADIUS IS AN INTERESTING MISSILE RADIUS DONT YOU THINK?
ISRAEL WILL DO THE WORLD A FAVOUR BE REMOVING THIS THREAT
IN THE MIDDLE EAST

THEY HIDE AMONG THEIR COMMUNITIES HIDE BEHIND CIVILIANS
WE ARE DOING OUR BEST TO MINIMISE BUT YOU CANT DO AWAY WITH THIS
THIS IS THE WHOLE HIZBOLLAH STRATEGY

THERE IS A CANCER INSIDE LEBANON

THE REGION WILL BE FAR MORE STABLE WHEN HIZBOLLAH ARE REMOVED

DEMOCRACY CAN ONLY OVERCOME TERROR BY FIGHTING IT
WE CANNOT LET THESE EXTREMISTS STOCKPILE WEAPONS
AND ANNOUNCE ITS INTENTION TO WIPE US OFF THE MAP

YOU WOULDNT ALLOW IT AND NEITHER WILL WE

Too right. And good to see the Sky correspondent not get a word in edgeways. (kudos that they aired it though)

Saturday, July 15, 2006

It is being somewhat overshadowed by Israel taking the fight to the terrorists but over in Afghanistan the British have taken the terror stronghold of Sangin in one of the biggest operations launched by British troops yet. We face a huge & difficult task there and history would suggest the odds are stacked against us. Worth celebrating.

Israels Night

Last night, quite randomly we met an Israeli in a bar at her leaving party. She's on her way back to Israel where she expects to get called up (shes a weapons expert). She invited myself and my friend over to join her. Kritztina (my Hungarian friend...argh, a scary Euro!) initially arrived at the bar and the first words out of her mouth were

"Wow Israel, thank God..they take no shit!".

Yep.

This young Israeli woman was remarkably relaxed about what she might be facing and it was a privilege to spend the evening with her and her friends. I'd like to wish her luck.

To be honest we were both a bit choked when when we left the bar. Jumped in a cab and the usual banter from the cab driver ensued "Have a nice night love?". I used the word interesting to describe it and didnt mind telling him. (You can always talk politics with cabbies here).

Turns out he was a Jew. He described himself as 'a proud English Jew' an 'Englishman first', 'a Jew second'. A lengthy conversation about Israel ensued. He didnt feel that this young woman was likely to end up on the front line, trying to make me feel better, not til i told him she was a weapons expert. Then he wasnt sure. I hope he's right and she doesnt.

His parting comment:

"'They don't want peace. After all the concessions..they respond with idiocy and escalate the violence...they want WW3. They want to kill the likes of you and me...jews and christians...we're the infidels"

Its always 'refreshing' to hear random people you dont know (specially in liberal London) spout the things you hear on blogs.

Most recommended comment over at the BBCs Have Your Say:-

"This is an absolute disgrace. According to the UN, Israel withdrew completely to the recognised international border, and does not occupy one inch of Lebanese land.

This just demonstrates what happens when Israel shows weakness by withdrawing. Since the withdrawl from southern Lebanon in 2000, Israel has been attacked on numerous occassions from Lebanon, and the same situation was seen in Gaza.

I guess the left will still find a way to blame Israel"

I don't care. Way to go Israel. (my parting comment to the cabbie).

***********************************************
Israeli minister Mr Herzog in response to Skys line of questioning early this morning, where Sky suggested Israel was losing global support and overeacting. At the G8 summit. ( I typed it as he said it)

Regards civilian casualties:

The terrorist activity is contained within civilian areas. We have consistently warned over and over that they get out and attack only when we believe that they have moved out

Proportion:

If you want to talk about proportion, consider that 30 towns and cities have been attacked by Hizbollah, 50 israelis attacked and killed. We are attacked after pulling out from Lebanon, pulling out our forces from the northern border, pulling out of Gaza, and still the terrorists continue. With all due respect we now have full justification to uproot the terrorists and to sink them into the abyss.

The Lebanese government never fulfilled their committments to the UN back in 2000 and rounded on Hizbollah - we are insisting that they do so. We insist that Hizbollah dismantle their weapons. They have been instigating activities from Gaza, have continued to kill many citizens over the years ...

International community response:

Id like to ask President Putin to consider how he himself deals with terror when he is confronted by it?

Regards attacking the airport

Let me clarify for you quite simply: it is a base for ammunition for all the capabilities for Hizbollah. We gave an advance warning of the attack.

In conclusion:

Israel has taken many many steps for peace (exasperated). For what? Now we will pull back unilaterally.

We will now change the rules of the game in the region

London? No. San Francisco. I honestly thought they only dressed up like terrorists at these demos over here in the UK/Europe.

Britain's First Suicide Bombers

BBC tonight 9:00 pm - 10:30 pm 90mins

"This film follows the extraordinary journey of the two young British Islamist terrorists who emerged from the suburbs of Derby and Hounslow to bomb a seaside bar in Tel Aviv in April 2003. It reveals previously unknown evidence of how Omar Sharif Khan and Asif Hanif became embroiled in radical politics and how they were involved in a wider network of British Jihadists.

Hanif died in his own explosion and Omar's body was found a fortnight later in the sea off Israel. Three members of Omar's family were later prosecuted - and acquitted - under the Terrorism Act for their alleged knowledge of the atrocity. This programme contains some scenes which some viewers may find upsetting."

Plenty for Joe Public via the MSM finally. (And on the BBC). Sorry but none of this glamorising it via some film at the cinema which people have to make the effort to go along to see. As 'cool' an idea as this may seem. What's needed is to get the cold hard message across in people's living rooms. No escape. Which seemed to be the case tonight.

Clearly conveyed points for lefty to mull over, too tired right now for details:

-Motivated, thrilled and inspired by 9/11
-They were well educated, intelligent
-Their absolute commitment to Islam
-University based terror groups radicalised them
-Their ignorance over Israel was remarked upon by Hamas militants showing them round before the attacks.
-The links they had to senior AQ personnel

And then, starkly after the comments on their ignorance on Israel, their video suicide note exhibited the usual confident anti Israeli rhetoric as if they REALLY 'understood' what they were going on about. Would fool most leftys.

Contrary to ludicrous academic suggestions that this was all about some sort of disaffection and machismo, it was the absolute and unflinching faith in Allah and the afterlife - worship of a deathcult syndrome - that came across in steady cold measures tonight. No ranting. Just constant talk of lifes's 'tests', how rubbish this life is, of 'Paradise' and 'trusting in Allah'.

Sidique Khan's video note came on at the end.

"My brothers and sisters in the west you will not be at peace until Allahs Sharia reigns over these lands"

Mohammad Sidique Khan collaborated with Omar Sharif and Hanif Asif to recruit young Muslims for terror training camps in Afghanistan four years before he and his bomber buddies blew themselves up on the tube. Khan and others were seeking to spread `Dawa' -- a form of evangelical preaching of Islam.

Khan also visited Israel on February 19, 2003, two months before the Tel Aviv bombing. A real clear indication that we can expect to learn more about Khans links to Al Qaeda in the future.

The programme ended with the sombre if obvious remark

"Perhaps these actions should have signalled warning signs of what was to come".

Great piece in The Times again.:-

"Muslim complaints about being victimised are perversely directed. Muslims are victims of the bombers, not of the state or the police. It is the terrorists who make Muslims potential objects of suspicion and fear because the bombers murder in the name of Islam. Muslims have every right to be outraged, but their fury should focus on the men of violence".

"There are those who in the interests of community relations denounce linking the word Islamic to “violence” or “extremism”. They object that we did not call the IRA “Catholic terrorists”, nor do we speak of “Christian extremism” or link Christian fundamentalism to violence. There are good reasons for that. Although the IRA is rooted in the Catholic community, its aims are political and secular. Although there certainly are Christian extremists today, just now they are not murdering people in the name of purifying the world. By contrast, across the globe human beings are being slaughtered in large numbers by Muslims quoting from the Koran and vowing death to infidels, including other Muslim sects. Their objectives are political and religious"

"So to try to condemn the expression “Islamic violence” is a dangerous attempt at censorship that would hamper our understanding of the threat we face. The term is certainly offensive to Muslims, but the offence is caused by the bombers, not by those who describe the process".

"The prime minister’s exhortation was valid. The bombers are not casualties of British society. Shehzad Tanweer, the Aldgate murderer, was only 22 yet left £121,000 after tax. The bombers’ grievances cannot be bought off with more money for schools or a new youth centre. They were corrupted, I assume, by theoreticians of annihilation from within their community. Their training was probably perfected in an Al-Qaeda camp in Pakistan.

I think tonights documentary underlined this over and over. I hope we continue to see more of this in the MSM.

Still a way to go though. Tonight Islamic terrorists attack and murder in India ~ to destabilise its secular democracy. But so far all ive seen from the MSM is this usual depersonification of terrorism - 'bombs kill 136'.

Just random 'bombs'.

At least The Times managed to squeeze the word terror into its headline today though eh.

Materazzi to Zidane

Materazzi: "50,000 euros if you throw the match"

Zidane: "Make it 100,000 and you're on"

Sunday, July 09, 2006

Fireworks going off like crazy round London at the moment. Theres a huge full moon, clear skies and it all looks pretty spectacular. Good ol' London.

And certainly Berlin looks pretty amazing at the moment.

How about Zidane. Magician of a footballer. But anyone that wants to have a go at Rooney can go....

Neither team deserved to be in the final but glad it was all euro. I was pleased Italy won and was behind them all the way tonight. The Italians sang their national anthem with SUCH heart. Unlike the French. Zidane cant sing "aux armes citoyens"?

"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I'm very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that"

Famous quote rings true. Specially for France tonight.

Goal of the tournament: Joe Cole's volley & Argentina's (24 pass) goal against Serbia
Knew it from the start: Brazil
Idiot: Cristiano Ronaldo (too scared to come back to England)
Player nickname: Gattuso the Tank
Good Riddance: Sven the Nordic Gloommeister, Portugal (losing two games in the world cup), & C. Ronaldo
Surprise: The final. And Germany and France booing Ron.
Gutted: Becks, England...don't subscribe to any of the spiteful gloomy rubbish ive read about England not deserving to get past the 1/4's. Bollocks. France, Italy anyone?

Blimey. The Berlin stadium in 1936:-

Tonight:

Gutted its all over. I love the World Cup (and football).

Nice one Germany. Spectacular 5 week show.

On this day, last year

This time last year, went along to this.

VE Day commemorations along the Mall and up to Buckingham Palace.

The number of people that attended really struck me only 2 days after July 7. Just as the 2 minutes silence for Islams terror victims, on the Friday (and again last week) had. London really was utterly silent. Whereas 2 days before it had been utterly jubilant over the Olympics. Such is the nature of this city that by Sunday it was paying its respects in style to an important generation.

A lot was said about the spirit of the Blitz.

It seemed a bit cliche but the reality is London did go back to normal immediately after that morning. Walking back in the evening with hundreds of commuters the joking and chatting and drinking outside the pub invoked a collective feeling of well...humanity really and the best of our national character.

On VE Day it occured to me that 38,000 of Londons citizens were wiped out in the Blitz -
but rarely do you hear or see a regular special tribute to them. In one night alone some 450 lost their lives.

London has also been the target of sustained terror attacks for two decades. Tubes ground
to a halt on a regular basis in response to 'a suspect package'. Oxford Street was devoid of bins for years for fear of bin bombs (and grubby as a result), weve been used to CCTV and the Ring of Steel, armed police for decades now.

I can remember the IRA blowing up the Queen's Cavalry with a nail bomb in Hyde Park, killing 11 soldiers, lascertaing many, including the horses whose limp bodies added to the scene of
carnage in a way I wont readily forget and stuck in my mind as a kid. It Injured 40 or so civilian onlookers. Horrific.

There were 36 bombs in London in 1973. A good smattering of non military targets too. Bombs outside the Old Bailey, Guildford, Hyde Park, Regents Park, Harrods where they killed 6 people. One terrorist accidentally blew himself up on a London bus.

The impact of a bombing campaign in London, a major city, was worth a lot in terms of
publicity. The terrorists learned this and used it to their advantage. Clearly this has been invaluable to others who have followed in their footsteps.

For once im not interested in lamenting the left and its impact on society. Ken. Or Islam.
F*** that. This remains one hell of a city. And it continues, with its tremendous history,
magnanimous, in spite of them all.

LOL

Stars Join in Hunger Strike

Hollywood stars Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon are to join a fast protesting against the Iraq war.

From Drink Soaked Trotskys for WAR

"Now it is time to bring the pain and suffering of war home. We are putting our bodies on the line for peace."

Aaah.

Whatever.

They will give up food for 24 hours as part of a rolling fast.

Is that a record for Hollywood then? I doubt it.

Sean Penn visited Iraq in 2002 and 2003, meeting politicians, visiting a water treatment plant and touring a children's hospital.

in the comments:-

"Did Sean ever say 'Yeah, nice palace Your Excellency. Love the gold and marble furnishings. Why are all your kids starving'?"

Muslim Association of GB this evening on Sky News.

The presenter asked what efforts were being made by the muslim community to combat extremism.

The MAGB spokesperson brought up IslamExpo which opens today at Ali Pali. He referred to it as an 'initiative'.

That's some 'initative' - sensitively timed to coincide with the anniversary of July 7 when the religion was used to justify murdering commuters on their way to work - and when the spokespeople at the event include Yvonne Ridley ("Brother Zaqawi") and Azzam Tamimi:

Tamimi with the BBC’s Tim Sebastian:-

(The subject is whether Tamimi would be willing to be a suicide bomber in Israel):

Sebastian: No—please come back to my question. Please come back to my question. Why if it is so glorious and honourable to do this,
why don’t you do it?

Tamimi: I would do it …

Sebastian: When?

Tamimi: If I have the opportunity I would do it …

Sebastian: When are you going to do it?

Tamimi: When? If I can go to Palestine* and sacrifice myself I would do it. Why not?

Islam is religion and politics fused. This expo is little more than a politico back slapping exercise - not an initiative to combat anything. And since its public funds that are contributing towards it id question where else public money is being spent on muslim 'initiatives'.

In efforts to brush off the timing it was revealed the date couldnt be moved because it had been planned a few years ago. So - how is this then a 'new initiative' to combat extremism.

The MAGB spokesperson went on to cite marginalisation of the muslim community as a factor in increasing extremism.

Rubbish.

Those young men were reasonably well off by the standards of their parents, one in a respected position within the community in a school environment. They had been nothing but cossetted by a liberal multi-culti society - Freedom to practise their religion? Check. Places of worship? Check. Faith schools? check.

And yet presently 37% of *British* Muslims feeling that British values threaten the Islamic way of life and 13% of British Muslims regarded the London bombers as "martyrs".

(In his little video tonight Tanweer mentioned Afghanistan and Palestine* alongside Iraq.
Thought it was just Iraq?).

An email doing the rounds

There is a very real danger that Cristiano Ronaldo will be voted the fans' best young player at the World Cup despite his pouting, diving, pretty boy antics designed mainly to get himself a lucrative transfer to Real Madrid and thus avoid the good kicking he deserves from Wayne Rooney at Manchester United training.

He is currently 1st in the FIFA voting just ahead of Luis Valencia of Ecuador. Please can everyone go here And do the decent thing by voting for Valencia. It doesn't matter who you support or if you haven't seen them play, just stop that little b*stard from getting an award for his antics.

...*grin*

Happy 4th of July ~ America

"Despite the genesis of Independence Day, it is largely uncommon for Americans to express anti-British sentiment on the day or to view it as a celebration of anti-colonialism. Indeed, most Americans today consider the United Kingdom their greatest ally. Rather than specifically as an opportunity to commemorate the end of British rule in the 18th century, contemporary Americans generally perceive the holiday as a celebration of the U.S.A. itself and the political values that motivated the United States Declaration of Independence, including explicit principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and implicit ones of democracy, liberty, freedom, and equality under the law"

"....Uncommon for Americans to express anti British sentiment on the day or view it as a celebration of anti colonialism....". Nice eh?

Good Riddance
