The sun is out. London is buzzing. Its been a crazily busy week. Of course I voted last night though i considered not doing so. Disappointed in the lack of choice as usual, some 12 candidates, 5 or 6 parties. Results this morning came as no surprise whatsoever. Been reading the blog reaction from the left today and will link to some posts tomorrow. Funny bunch, mostly in a permanent state of lazy denial. Right now Im off to the pub.

So am I, for that drink you didn't promise me...
Have a pint for me, will you?
Look forward to tomorrow's links.
PS, I thought that was a very interesting point you raised on DSD's blog, re France apparently deporting its illegal criminals easily enough, yet us lot not doing so. Surely EU directives apply equally across the member states? This needs further investigation. I wonder, was it just a case of the French politicians talking tough for their electorate, but in reality their hands are just as tied as ours?
In any case, I am convinced that the Charles Clarke thing was no accident, but deliberate policy.
London has been turned blue
14 councils Conservative
4 Labour
3 Lib Dems
8 No control
Awesome result!
Alison,
I think a permanent state of lazy denial fairly describes US Republicans as well. We won't have any election results over here until November to judge how many of them will lose their jobs.
Cheers. We need a virtual pub. Preferably where they serve Leffe.
Tom - France havent ratified any of the ECHR that directly affects them. Neither did they tie themselves into it by law as Blair did here (his election manifesto). I think you are right. All so Mrs Blair could make a fat buck & the rest.
Jonz - it looks a more confident blue this time round too.
Hi Alan - Will be interesting. here it applies to all our politicians on this issue. But more acutely on the left as a whole (as opposed to the politicians per se).
I have been looking for sites like this for a long time. Thank you!
