Get over it

Sky are trying to report on yet more Marine ‘misdemeanors’ in today’s on line ‘news’. In this latest ‘incident’ they have had to concede that the troops were simply larking around after returning from Iraq and that no bullying actually has been reported. So unable to splash these lurid headlines all over our TV sets and front pages as a true ‘scandal’ they resort instead to what amounts to media giggling and finger pointing “Troops caught with their trousers down”. There seems to be an anglosphere obsession developing as far as our troops are concerned. Not content with making scapegoats out of senior officers who tackle head on any sign of alleged wrong doing out in Iraq and not content with reporting absolute scandalous rubbish as ‘torture’, the MSM are now doing their best to maximise ‘scoops’ on perceived nasty bullying. The initial revelations came on the weekend when what looks like a bunch of hard core nutters in the Marines took it upon themselves to get drunk, naked and dirty in a full on fist fight. It strikes me as rather odd that the MSM or anyone else for that matter would expect these guys to be reasonably behaved individuals with good natured sweetness oozing from every pore. These are guys who get to deal full on with the kind of war horrors that we wince at when watching it in surreal format eg Saving Private Ryan or Black Hawk Down (if inclined!). Blokes are inclined to beat each other into unconsciousness just for spilling a pint down the local boozer so why should we be *shocked* that individuals who sign up to take on the toughest assignments in the world are doing the same strikes me as rather typical of today’s high moralising and hot air over nothing. This is nothing more than spurious media ‘concern’.

I have come to the conclusion that the media is just one great big cesspool of...dare I say it?....Wankers.
